Police are appealing for information after a man was reported to have chased someone down Fir Tree Road in Banstead while wielding kitchen knives.

The incident happened on Friday morning, September 25, around 8.30am, according to police.

A heavy police presence in Banstead was reported by eye-witnesses, while a 29-year-old man from Wandsworth was later arrested in connection to the incident.

Responding to a request for comment from the Surrey Comet, a spokesperson for Surrey Police said:

"We are appealing for witnesses after a man was chased down Fir Tree Road in Banstead, by another man holding what appeared to be two large kitchen knives.

"The incident occurred at around 8.30am on Friday 25 September.

"The victim was unharmed and the suspect was arrested the following day after his vehicle was stopped and searched by officers."

They also provided details of the what the man who had been arrested during the traffic stop was suspected of:

"The 29-year-old man from Wandsworth was arrested on suspicion of:

•Attempted grievous bodily harm

•Affray

•Stalking

"The suspect has been released on bail and the investigation is ongoing," Surrey Police said.

A witness appeal is still ongoing and police are urging anyone with information about what happened to get in touch.
