The victim of a fatal hit-and-run crash in Shepperton has been named by police as the investigation into his death continues.

On Wednesday (October 1), a statement released by Surrey Police confirmed that local man Brendan O’Connell died after the collision on Walton Bridge Road shortly before 8pm on Saturday, September 19.

Brendan was 52, and died after he was found by emergency service first responders suffering serious head injuries at the scene of the crash.

A 59 year old man was arrested in connection with his death, and has since been released under investigation.

Officers from Surrey Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit are still investigating the circumstances behind Brendan’s death and are appealing to any witnesses to come forward.

"A red van is believed to have been involved and we’d like anyone with any dash cam footage from the area between 7:30pm and 8pm to get in contact as soon as possible," a spokesperson said.
