A man has died after he was found suffering serious head injuries on Walton Bridge Road in Shepperton yesterday evening (September 20), prompting a police investigation.

Surrey Police said the man, who was in his 50s, died at the scene after their officers attended a section of Walton Bridge Road in the moments before 8pm on Saturday.

His next of kin have reportedly been informed.

Police closed Walton Bridge Road as they launched into investigations surrounding the man's death, and said that they "had two people in custody" in connection to the incident.

Speaking late on Saturday night, Sergeant Ben Grilli from Surrey’s Road Policing Unit (RPU) said:

"We are investigating the possibility that this was a fail to stop collision. It is early stages of the investigation and we currently have two people in custody in connection with this but we are appealing to anyone who may have seen something or have any further information to get in contact.

“Did you see a vehicle driving erratically in the area or have any dashcam footage which could assist? Please contact us as soon as possible."

Surrey Police are now appealing for witnesses.
