A team of women in Epsom have raised more than £3,000 for charity after launching a service to make high quality face masks, amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
The Parishioners of St Joseph's, who are known as The Creative Card Ladies, had previously been making greetings cards for sale in the parish, with all proceeds going to a mission in Zambia run by the Franciscan Sisters of the Divine Motherhood.
With the arrival of the Coronavirus and lockdown, the team turned their talents to making face masks for sale to parishioners and others.
Owing to the success of the endeavour so far, the team has now expanded to offer face masks to residents across Epsom and Ewell.
Profits will be divided equally between The Manna Society, which cares for homeless people in London, and the Franciscan Sisters of the Divine Motherhood in Zambia.
The masks are made with 100 per cent cotton, with a middle layer which is a fine weave filter, fully complying with requirements by the World Health Organisation.
They are made in three different sizes for women, men and children, and come in a variety of different patterns.
All the masks are washable and reversible. It takes around 20-30 minutes to make each mask, from cutting-out to completion. The St Joseph's team have produced more than 600 masks since they started the project.
Masks are just £5 each and local delivery is possible by arrangement.
