A family are fundraising to help provide transportation for medical supplies after they lost their father in a car crash.

Simon Palmer, 47, tragically lost his life after being killed in a motorbike accident in June 2019.

'A bike for Simon' has been launched to help purchase a motorbike for Blood Bikers, in memory of the beloved father, husband, brother and dear friend.

Blood Bikers is an organisation that provides free out of hours medical transportation to the NHS.

Since the pandemic, Blood Bikers has seen a growing demand in their transportation service which lead them to transform their part-time services into full-time.

Campaign organiser, Richard Mayall said: "Since setting up the campaign in Simon’s memory we’ve been overwhelmed with the response.

"People seem to agree that the cause is a fitting memory and he’d undoubtedly approve of having a bike named after him - as long as it was a good one!

"This service literally saves lives and benefits the NHS considerably each year.

"We are grateful for all contributions received, knowing it will be in a worthy cause.

"When people see a blood bike on the road they can think maybe that’s the bike they part paid for."
