Five people were injured and four of them rushed to hospital after a crash on Gaston Bridge Road in Shepperton on Tuesday afternoon (July 21).

Emergency services hurried to attend the scene of the serious "head-on" collision, which involved three different cars crashing on the road at around 1.50pm.

The section of the road where the crash took place between Green Lane and Fordbridge Road remained closed into Tuesday evening.

Meanwhile, police said they were investigating the circumstances of the crash in a statement that offered further details of what happened:

"The road remains closed following the head-on collision, which took place in Gaston Bridge Road around 1.50pm.

"Five people have been injured and four of them have been taken to hospital.

"The cars involved include a Ford Focus, a Jaguar and a Peugeot.

"The road remains closed at the junction with green Lane and Fordbridge Road," a police spokesperson said.

"We are appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision, or with any information or dashcam footage, to contact us straightaway on 101, quoting PR/P2016925," they added.
