A CYCLIST suffered a head injury in a collision with a bus.

The crash happened in North Street, Brighton, at about 12.40pm.

Police and ambulance crews were called to the scene, near the Brighton Clock Tower.

A South East Coast Ambulance Service spokesman said: "We were called at approximately 12.40pm today to reports of a collision involving a bicycle and a bus in North Street.

"Ambulance crews attended the scene and the cyclist was assessed and treated before being taken to Royal Sussex County Hospital with injuries including a head injury."

The Argus:

A Sussex Police spokeswoman said: "At 12.45pm we were made aware of a collision involving a bus and a cyclist in North Street, Brighton.

"The cyclist, a man, suffered a head and hand injury and was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital for treatment."

An AA spokesman warned drivers that the road was partially blocked as emergency services dealt with the incident.

Police left the scene at about 1.20pm but an ambulance remained parked on the pavement in North Street.

The road has now been cleared.

Kevin Carey, operations director for Brighton and Hove Buses, said the incident had been reported to the company at 12.41pm.

He said: "The passengers and the driver are all safe and did not incur any injuries."
