Kingston's Household Reuse and Recycling Centre (HRRC) has reopened today (May 13) for "essential visits" only after a period of closure during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

The popular recycling centre, also known as "The Tip" by residents, will open for limited hours during the week and on weekdays as some of the restrictive lockdown measures are cautiously eased.

In a statement published by Kingston Council (RBK) who administer the HRRC, a spokesperson said:

"In accordance with government guidance, householders should only take waste to the HRRC if it cannot be safely stored at home and no alternative disposal options are available.

"Visits to the site will be strictly by appointment only and the site will be operating with revised opening times.

  • Monday to Friday: 2pm to 6.30pm
  • Saturday: 7.30am to 4pm
  • Sunday: 9am to 4pm

"You must pre-book your visit via our website - visitors without a confirmed booking will not be allowed access to the site."
