Health Secretary Matt Hancock revealed he has tested positive for Covid-19 coronavirus today (March 27).
Hancock announced the news in a short video clip posted to Twitter.
The announcement came minutes after Prime Minister Boris Johnson, also via Twitter, revealed he too had tested positive for Covid-19.
Hancock said:
"Following medical advice, I was advised to test for #Coronavirus.
"I've tested positive. Thankfully my symptoms are mild and I’m working from home and self-isolating.
"I'll be self-isolating here until next Thursday.
"I want to say a massive thank you to everybody in the NHS and social care working across the board on the response.
"I'll be doing everything I can to get our carers the support they need from here.
"Vital we follow the advice to protect our NHS and save lives."
