WICKES bosses have told employees the company will continue trading after being deemed an "essential retailer" by the Government.

Stores remain shut today but customers will still be able to order online.

Shoppers have the option of home delivery or click and collect, with items available to pick up outside closed stores.

The hardware retailer says it's working out "the best operation to support customers in these unprecedented times".

This is after DIY stores were included on the list of “essential” stores that should remain open during the coronavirus pandemic.

Other establishments that are allowed to open include supermarkets, pharmacies, newsagents, banks and Post Offices.

Vets, pet shops, petrol stations, launderettes, banks and hardware stores will also keep doors open for customers.

Customers will be able to collect orders at the front entrance of closed stores - but they're being asked to make sure they've received their confirmation email or text to say your order is ready before heading down.

The retailer hasn't said if they'll be operating under reduced hours.
