The National Union of Rail, Maritime and Transport (RMT) have suspended strike action on South Western Railway in good faith to allow further talks to take place.
In a statement which published on March 3, The RMT also said that the talks would be taking place this Friday [March 6].
The action that has been suspended was due to take place between:
• 10.00 hours on Monday 9th March 2020 until 09.59 hours on Tuesday 10th March 2020
• 10.00 hours on Thursday 12th March 2020 until 09.59 hours on Friday 13th March 2020
South Western Railway Guard, Commercial Guard and Train Driver members have since been instructed to work as usual on the above dates.
Esher and Walton MP and Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab commented on the suspension in a statement seen by the Comet.
Raab said:
"I welcome the suspension of these strikes, but it is unacceptable that the threat of industrial action continues to hang over commuters in Elmbridge.
"The RMT must stop causing unnecessary disruption, and enter talks on Friday in a constructive spirit."
