SOME 10 motorists have so been convicted as part of Surrey Police and Sussex Police’s Christmas crackdown on drink and drug-drivers.

George Reynolds, 24, sales assistant, of Shipley Road, Brighton, was reported to police around 10.05pm on 24 December after he was witnessed driving a Citroen DS erratically on the A27 at Beddingham. After failing a roadside breath test, he was arrested and charged with driving with 41mcg of alcohol per 100ml of breath in his system. The legal limit is 35mcg. He appeared at Hastings Magistrates’ Court on 29 January, where he was disqualified from driving for 12 months. He was also ordered to a pay a £120 fine, £85 costs and a £32 victim surcharge.

Perry Moss, 40, a bricklayer, of Vanners, Crawley, was arrested in Crawley Avenue, Crawley, on 20 December and charged with driving with 102mcg of alcohol per 100ml of breath in his system. At Crawley Magistrates’ Court on 15 January, he was disqualified from driving for 28 months and given a 14-week curfew. He was also ordered to pay a £120 fine, £85 costs and a £90 victim surcharge.

John Smalley, 65, a sales rep, of York Road, Eastbourne, was arrested in Cavendish Place, Eastbourne, on 22 December and charged with driving with 82mcg of alcohol per 100ml of breath in his system. At Hastings Magistrates’ Court on 29 January, he was disqualified from driving for 20 months. He was also ordered to pay a £420 fine, £85 costs and a £42 victim surcharge.

Steven Curtis, 37, a chef, of St Helens Road, Hastings, was arrested in Bexhill Road, St Leonards, on 23 December, and charged with driving with 51mcg of alcohol per 100ml of breath in his system and driving with no insurance. At Hastings Magistrates’ Court on 29 January, he was disqualified from driving for 14 months. He was also ordered to pay a £460 fine, £85 costs and a £32 victim surcharge.

David Tortello, 59, a driver, of no fixed address, was arrested in Bexhill Road, St Leonards, on 26 December and charged with driving with 95mcg of alcohol per 100ml of breath in his system. At Hastings Magistrates’ Court on 29 January, he was disqualified from driving for 36 months and given a nine-month community order. He was also ordered to pay a £120 fine, £85 costs and a £90 victim surcharge.

Steven Chatfield, 43, a handyman, of no fixed address, was arrested in Southbourne Road, Eastbourne, on 28 December, and charged with failing to provide a specimen of breath for analysis and driving with no insurance. At Hastings Magistrates’ Court on 29 January, he was disqualified from driving for 26 months. He was also ordered to pay a £200 fine, £85 costs and a £32 victim surcharge.

Felipe Tomasz, 37, a landlord, of Bristol Gardens, Brighton, was arrested in Jevington Drive, Brighton, on 29 December and charged with driving with 63mcg of alcohol per 100ml of breath in his system. At Brighton Magistrates’ Court on 30 January, he was disqualified from driving for 22 months. He was also ordered to pay a £575 fine, £85 costs and a £57 victim surcharge.

Lee Dunn, 44, a driver, of Malt Cottages, Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, was arrested in Robertson Street, Hastings, on 30 December and charged with driving with 69mcg of alcohol per 100ml of breath in his system. At Hastings Magistrates’ Court on 29 January, he was disqualified from driving for 18 months. He was also ordered to pay a £207 fine, £85 costs and a £32 victim surcharge.

Resim Ortsev, 26, a factory worker, of Lower Bognor Road, Lagness, was arrested in Arundel Road, Worthing, on 31 December and charged with driving with 106mcg of alcohol per 100ml of breath in his system. At Worthing Magistrates’ Court on 11 February, he was disqualified from driving for 24 months and ordered to carry out 90 hours of unpaid work. He was also ordered to pay £85 costs and a £90 victim surcharge.

Brandon Dayer, 24, a plumber, of The Causeway, Goring, was arrested in Stone Lane, Worthing, on 1 January and charged with driving with 71mcg of alcohol per 100ml of breath in his system.

At Worthing Magistrates’ Court on 4 February, he was disqualified from driving for 17 months. He was also ordered to pay a £420 fine, £85 costs and a £42 victim surcharge.
