A multi-vehicle crash on the M25 near Cobham services forced an air ambulance to land and close a section of the motorway on Thursday evening (February 13).
Traffic was held in both directions during peak evening rush hour to allow space for the emergency response helicopter paramedics to land and treat those involved in the crash.
Due to a serious RTC on the M25 between J10 and Cobham services, we have had to close the carriageway in both directions for the safe landing of Air Ambulance. Officers hope to open the carriageway as soon as possible.

Thank you in advance for your patience.
Surrey Road Policing Unit (RPU) attended and referenced there being multiple people with "serious injuries" involved in the crash in statements posted to Twitter around 6pm.
"Due to a serious RTC on the M25 between J10 and Cobham services, we have had to close the carriageway in both directions for the safe landing of Air Ambulance," a spokesperson said.
"Officers hope to open the carriageway as soon as possible.
"Thank you in advance for your patience."
Responding to a query about the length of the delay for motorists in the area, Surrey RPU added:
"As long as it takes the Dr’s and Medics on board the helicopter to treat the seriously injured.
"Once we can safely allow traffic through we will.
"We will do our best to keep everyone updated and we will do our best to open the road as quickly as possible."
By around 6.30pm, Highways England announced that the air ambulance had since departed and traffic starting to flow again in the area.
*Update* - Helimed has left scene - Traffic now released on both the #Clockwise and #Anticlockwise - Lanes 4 and 3 closure remains in place on #Clockwise between junction 9 and 10 for recovery - https://t.co/D5k55pSSBd
