Firefighters had an unusual callout this week, after being called to a Lewisham home to reports that a woman had trapped her finger in a sink.
The incident took place at the beginning of the week, January 20, at Beacon Road, Hither Green.
In an attempt to clean out the sink's waste pipe, the woman's finger became stuck and was immobile until crews arrived.
Station Officer Gary Deacon said: "She had been stuck for about 20 minutes before we arrived and called us once she'd got over the embarrassment and realised her finger was starting to hurt.
"We did try to dismantle the whole base unit but in the end, we had to use a disc cutter to smash the basin up and get the whole thing out.
"We used wire snips to cut the plastic pipe from her finger.
"She was uninjured apart from her pride.
" It's the first time I've ever been called to this particular type of rescue!"
One fire engine attended the scene.
