Police are hunting for two suspects after an Ashford home was targeted at knifepoint on New Year's Eve (December 31).

Suspects attempted to break-in to the home, on Orchard Way in Ashford, just before 9pm.

Police said they were hunting two male suspects who attempted to force entry via a downstairs window but fled after police were called.

A spokesperson for Surrey Police issued further details of what happened:

"We were called to a residential property on Orchard Way just before 9pm, following reports of two men with knives attempting to gain access to the house by forcing open the ground floor window.

"The men then departed in an Audi, believed to be a A6 or A7."

PC Timonthy Mcgonagle is investigating the incident.

In an appeal to the public he said that the unidentified occupants of a Vauxhall Astra in the immediate area could especially help police catch the suspects.

"Although the men did not gain access to the property, we want to arrest those responsible to prevent them committing an offence like this again.

"We want to speak to anyone who is able to help us, particularly those in a Vauxhall Astra on Orchard Way around that time, who may have seen something," PC Mcgonagle said.

Anyone who might be able to help is asked to call police on 101 (quoting reference number PR/45190139989) or speak anonymously with Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
