A 12-year-old boy bought a homeless person dinner on his own initiative was one of 170 young people from Bromley recognised by the Jack Petchey awards.

The Churchill Theatre event honoured Achievement Award winners aged 11-25, who were presented with a framed achievement along with £250 each.

Aiden Jacob, who attends Bullers Wood, helped out a homeless person when walking home from school on a cold day, changing how his year group perceive people on the streets.

He decided to spend his £250 Jack Petchey Achievement Award grant on cricket caps with the school badge on.

Mayor of Bromley, Cllr Nicholas Bennett said: “We are enormously proud of our young people.

"Nine out of 10 of our schools are good or outstanding and this is reflected in our young people’s achievements.

"A great evening for a fantastic charity.”

Bromley have received funding of £1,804,793 from the Jack Petchey Foundation since in 2004.
