Emergency barrier repairs brought over six miles of congestion to the M25 near Chertsey on Tuesday evening (November 5).
Around 6.40pm, Highways England said that the emergency repairs, which were anticipated this afternoon, were bringing 30 minute delays to road users on the (anti-clockwise) M25 within Junction 12.
A spokesperson for the roads authority said:
"Surrey (and) Greater London please be aware there is currently approx. 6.5 miles of congestion between M25 J15, (M4) Heathrow and J11, Chertsey due to ongoing emergency barrier repairs closing the anti-clockwise link road to the M3.
"Please plan ahead if travelling this evening."

Highways England said that the long queues were the result of an earlier collision that damaged barriers in the area and required rapid emergency repair work to fix.
The road authority issued diversion advice for impacted road users on Tuesday:
"Diverted traffic is to continue on the M25 anti-clockwise to Junction 11.
"Exit at Junction 11, navigate the roundabout and rejoin the clockwise M25.
"Return to the M25 Junction 12 and continue your journey."
