A care home in Epsom found its singing voice recently after hosting a sell-out opera night.
Appleby House care home in Epsom held the event on Saturday (September 28) thanks to a partnership with the Arts in Care Homes initiative and BBC Music Day 2019.
On the day, residents and visitors enjoyed performances from high baritone James Schouten, mezzo-soprano Louisa Barry, singer Susan Clark and pianist Andrew Davies.
To top the evening off, guests were treated to a tasty buffet, specially prepared by Appleby House’s chefs.
Shona Bradbury, home manager at the Epsom care home on Longmead Road, said:
"As part of our activity-based care approach, we’re always looking to plan exciting activities for residents.
"The previous opera evenings have been a real success, and proved that many residents had a keen interest in classical music, so we were delighted to be hosting our tuneful event for the community once more.
"James, Louisa and Susan delivered a beautiful and touching performance, and the feedback from residents and guests has been overwhelming.
"We would like to say a big thank you to the singers and musicians for a fantastic opera evening. We’re already looking forward to next year’s event!"
