People across the region took part in Wear It Pink day on Friday to support the Breast Cancer Campaign and raise money for vital research into the disease.

South Norwood's Simply Clear Finance, Worcester Park's Seanhannah hair salon and Epsom's Millets and Bon Marche stores were amongst thousands of businesses and groups whose staff wore pink and held fundraising events to help the charity effort.

Wear It Pink is the biggest event during Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October. Money raised goes towards Breast Cancer Campaign's research funding grants for UK researchers to work on a cure for breast cancer.

In the past 12 years the charity has awarded 183 grants totalling more than £18.5 million to universities, medical schools, teaching hospitals and research institutes.
