The Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance (AAKSS) are hoping to soar to new heights after announcing a partnership with digital development firm.

AAKSS is a charity that relies on donations to provide urgent medical cover for residents in the region.

New partners Sigma are design and development specialists who aim to improve the air ambulance's digital presence, and, it is hoped, raise more money for the cause as a result.

"Launched in 1989, AAKSS has brought Sigma on board to overhaul its website, creating a new, engaging site to drive improvements in fundraising and awareness for the independent charity, which provides a vital emergency service across the region," a spokesperson said.

"Collaborating closely with the AAKSS team, Sigma’s designers and developers will reshape the charity’s digital presence, to deliver a new site with a focus on excellent usability and accessibility by March 2020.

"The new site will boast a new donation flow, integration with other charity platforms, campaigning and events management, to drive increased fundraising and engagement for the air ambulance service," they added.

The partnership was hailed by staff at AAKSS and Sigma alike.

Denise Hooton, Head of Marketing at Air Ambulance Kent Surrey Sussex said:

"It’s great to have Sigma on board to help ensure that we can continue to provide this essential life-saving service for people across our region.

"Their team has been extremely responsive to our requirements, and we look forward to seeing the positive results of the work ahead."

Meanwhile, Sigma UK's Managing Director Hilary Stephenson also welcomed the announcement of the new collaboration.

"We’re extremely excited to be working alongside the team at AAKSS.

"Their round-the-clock, life-saving work is absolutely vital and so it’s great to be chosen to help them improve the experience of visitors to their sit," he said.

"The charity sector, like many others, is undergoing a major digital transformation. As such, it’s important to ensure that all platforms are fully optimised to maximise engagement with potential donors – that’s what this project will deliver."
