Once again Worple Road is shut to commuters due to a large hole and a leaking water main.
Merton Council said at the beginning of yesterday that works started on July 15 with two way lights to repair a leaking water main.
But due to the risk of collapse a decision was made to close the main Wimbledon road between Elm Grove and Thornton Hill.
In an updated comment at the end of yesterday the council advised people to avoid the area "where possible."
Routes 57 131 and N87 are diverted due to a closure on Worple Road in Wimbledon due to a burst water main.

"For those who must use the area, the diversion routes are as follows, and we advise leaving extra time for your journey," the statement read.
- Eastbound Traffic from the A3: Coombe Lane, Pepys Road, Kingston Road, Hartfield Road, ending on Wimbledon Bridge/Wimbledon Hill Road
- Westbound Traffic from Parkside/Alexandra Road: Wimbledon Hill Road, Ridgeway, Copse Hill, ending at the junction of Coombe Lane allowing traffic to access the A3 or head back down Coombe Lane if they wish to access Raynes Park.
Neither Thames Water nor the council have given a time frame of how long the repairs may take.
