Police are searching for the victim of an attempted robbery after a cyclist was attacked in Ewell.

Surrey Police reported the incident as an "attempted bike robbery" and confirmed they were investigating the incident, which took place on July 10.

The person who was targeted in the attack is still unknown and police are hoping to get in touch with them for their inquiries.

Describing what happened in more detail, a spokesperson for Surrey Police said:

"The victim was pushed whilst on his bike and fell down a river embankment by a male involved in a police chase last week.

"It is believed that this was an attempt to steal his bike."

The violent robbery attempt happened around 8:20pm on the footpath in-between Colne Court and the A240 along Kingston Road, police said.

"We are keen to get in touch with the cyclist, not only to check if he is okay but so that he can help us with our investigation," the spokesperson for the county police force added.
