Guitar-playing buskers in Epsom will get free re-strings and tea this weekend thanks to a scheme promoted by one of the UK's largest music chains.

Guitarguitar are running the scheme across their six UK stores on Saturday 20-Sunday 21 July to mark the end of Busker Week, which starts today (Monday, July 15).

The Epsom branch of Britain's largest guitar retailers will offer buskers a free re-string of their guitars and a cup of tea "to soothe their worn-out vocal chords and tired fingers after a long week of performing," a spokesperson for Guitarguitar said.

The Epsom store manager, Luke Catton, said that he and the rest of their staff valued the contribution of buskers and were grateful of the opportunity to give them something back in return.

"To us, buskers are the real rockstars — playing for hours every day on our high streets, whatever the weather — which is why we’re always thrilled to support them any way we can.

"As we turn 15, we’re thrilled to continue to celebrate them and look forward to seeing them in our Epsom store as part of Busker Week," Mr Catton said.

The company added that customers would have a chance to win stellar prizes including a guitar by signed Noel Gallagher and a gift card worth £1500, up to September 15 this year.

The Epsom store is on 6 Capitol Square, Church Street in Epsom.

Guitarguitar was founded by Graham Bell and Christopher McBay in Corstorphine, near Edinburgh, in 2004, and has stores in Edinburgh, Birmingham, Camden, Epsom, Newcastle and Glasgow.
