A pregnant woman has told of her ordeal after allegedly being elbowed in the stomach during her early morning commute.

Giving her name only as Nicole, the expectant mother said it all started because of a dispute over personal space.

"This morning I was sitting on the train with my arm on the arm rest when a man got on the train at Earl’s Court," she said.

"He sat down and tried to force me off the arm rest, his elbow digging into the side of my stomach.

"When I explained I’m six months pregnant he didn’t care he kept digging into my side and with force jabbed his elbow into my stomach whilst the rest of the carriage just watched.

Nicole said that this continued all the way until Wimbledon station.

"I kept shouting that I was pregnant and he just didn't care and kept going," she added.

"Even when the person on the other side moved he still refused to move seats and kept attacking me."

She straight away reported this to British Transport Police who confirmed they are looking into the incident.

"‘BTP are investigating a report of an assault on a woman on board a tube to Wimbledon at around 8am this morning (July 3)," a spokeswoman said.

"Enquiries are currently ongoing and anyone who witnessed what happened can contact BTP by texting 61016 or calling 0800 40 50 40 quoting reference 133 of 03/07/19."
