Epsom and Ewell Borough Council (EEBC) announced plans to commemorate the 75th anniversary of Operation Epsom next month.

Operation Epsom, also known as the Battle of the Odon, took place in the aftermath of D-Day during the Allied liberation of occupied Europe from the Nazis.

It was a British-led offensive to liberate the town of Caen in occupied France, and took place between June 26-30, 1944.

A spokesperson for EEBC said the borough would mark the key moment of the Second World War linked to its primary town with a special family-friendly event at Bourne Hall Park in Ewell next month.

"We’re marking the 75th anniversary of D Day and Operation Epsom with a special free family day at Bourne Hall Park.

"There will be WW2 re-enactors, displays of weapons and vehicles plus music and dancing from Surrey Jive," the spokesperson said.

The event will take place on Saturday, July 13, 11am-4.30pm at Bourne Hall Park, Spring Street, Ewell (see flyer, attached, for more info.)
