“The aim is England.”

Crystal Palace’s Aaron Wan-Bissaka has revealed where his international loyalties lie in a recent interview with the Evening Standard.

The Eagles' Player Of The Year’s comments come amid interest from Democratic Republic of Congo for whom he qualifies through decent.

English born Wan-Bissaka has represented the African nation at youth level but it seems he’s now aiming to break his way in to Gareth Southgate’s plans.

“I am happy playing with England and representing England, so that is what I am going to continue doing," he said.

“My aim is just to keep playing and improving.

"By improving hopefully that does not go unnoticed and that will get me the chance, the same as it did with the team (Crystal Palace) now.”

What Palace fans are saying after AWB picked up award double

The 21-year-old has experienced a meteoric rise at Palace, establishing himself as the club’s first choice right-back with 38 appearances this season and picking up both the Player’s Player and Fans Player of The Year Award at the club’s end of season awards.

Despite the likes of experienced right-backs Kyle Walker, Keiron Trippier and Alexander Trent-Arnold leading the queue to Southgate’s door, the competition doesn’t phase Wan-Bissaka who’s looking to make an impact with England in the European Under-21 Championship this summer.

“That’s where the focus is.

“When the season ends, it is about focusing on the Euros and aiming to win it.

“Then after that is about focusing on the next season.”

With his performances alerting strong interest from Europe’s elite, Roy Hodgson and the Palace fans will be hoping that focus is at Selhurst Park.
