On this day ten years ago Chris Solly made his Charlton debut.

Facing Norwich City in the final game of the Championship season at The Valley, the fresh-faced 18-year-old trotted on for the injured Darren Ward at left-back on 14 minutes.

Solly's 4-2 winning start came around thanks to a Deon Burton hat-trick and a Nick Bailey strike and it offered the Addicks faithful some cheer in a season that amassed just nine wins.

With Phil Parkinson’s side already relegated, victory in front of 22,020 fans also consigned Norwich to the drop as goals from Alan Lee and Sammy Clingan were mere consolation.

How many of that side can you name?

Report: Charlton 4-2 Norwich City May 3 2009

A lot has changed since May 3rd 2009, on and off the pitch, but Solly has remained.

“Ten years!?! It feels like a lifetime,” he said.

“It’s been an enjoyable ride.

“A lot of ups and a few downs.”

There doesn’t look to be any desire to leave the club from the right-backs point of view.

“I’ve never had the intention to leave,” he said earlier in the season.

“I’ve been settled, happy, enjoying my football and always been playing which is the main thing.

“As long as the club is heading in the right direction, which right now is trying to get back in the Championship, I’m happy.”

Not a great goal-to-game ratio

Now Club-Captain, the defender has seen 12 changes in management at the club, with Lee Bowyer seemingly the lucky number 13.

(How many can you name?! Answers below-one manager had two stints)

He’s racked up 297 appearances, and with two games still to serve of his four-game ban, the 28-year-old will hope his 300th will come on the opening day of next season in the Championship as Charlton will look to go manoeuvre their way through the play-offs.

Leyton Orient, Blackpool and Luton Town are the unlucky trio to have been on the receiving end of a Solly strike in a career that has seen one promotion and two relegations.
