There’s a lot to discuss regarding Steve Morison’s Millwall future according to Neil Harris.

Morison started just his 14th game of the season in the 2-1 defeat by Bristol City at The Den on Tuesday as chances for regular football for the 35-year-old dwindle.

The stalwart sees his contract expire this summer and although the likelihood is he’ll be offered a new deal, Harris admits there’s plenty to sort out before pen is put to paper.

“He’s at an age now where there’s lots to consider with him,” he said.

“There’ll be conversations with him moving forward regarding his importance at the club, he’s doing his coaching badges.

“He’s not played a lot of football this year.

“Can he still play? Does he want to play?

“Moving forward what involvement would he have here next year as a player? “Is he happy with little involvement?

“Or with the little opportunities if they come?

“Or does he go like I did and play for Southend and play 40 games a season when I was 34?

“There’s lots of conversations to be had with lots of different individual players.”

Morison has amassed 435 appearances for the Lions over two periods in South Bermondsey, his latest outing coming alongside the seemingly departing Lee Gregory against the Robins.

“Moro, he came to see me and said he wanted to play,” Harris continued.

“He put himself forward, he wanted to play and show he still has ability and importance, and I thought he played well.”
