A man who evaded police after a stop and search in Penge where a knife was recovered has still not been found.

This comes after the "nasty looking knife" was seized from the suspects' bag after he was searched at Penge East railway station yesterday.

However, he ran away from the Bromley Safer Transport Team and police said he did so to avoid arrest.

His identify is known to police and he is being "tracked down as a matter of urgency".

An officer for Penge & Cator Police told News Shopper the stop and search was part of a Community Impact Day in Penge.

The officer added: "This male was searched and the knife was located in a bag he was carrying.

"He subsequently made off before he could be arrested. Attempts are being made to locate him."
