Kingston Environment Centre (KEC)'s Green Radio Station will celebrate 12 years on the airwaves with a series of events next month.

The community radio station, based at the KEC headquarters in New Malden, will host two panel discussions during the week commencing March 4.

On March 6, the Environment Centre will host the 'Great Green Debate' which KEC said will feature a panel discussion "of high profile politicians who are coming to the KEC to take part in our environmental debate, covering the most important green, environmental and sustainable issues facing our world today."

Kingston Green Radio will broadcast the debate live from KEC, and will also be streaming audio and video live via its Facebook page.

Already confirmed for the debate are: Seb Dance MEP (Deputy Leader of the European Parliamentary Labour Party), Jean Lambert MEP (Green Party Member of the European Parliament and Vice President of the Green/European Free Alliance Group of MEPs), Sarah Olney (Former Liberal Democrat MP for Richmond Park and North Kingston) and Cllr Aphra Brandreth (Councillor for Barnes Ward, and Conservative Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for Kingston and Surbiton).

The Great Green Debate will be hosted by Radio Jackie and Kingston Green Radio host Henry Riley.

The second event will feature another panel discussion on feminism, the women's movement and gender equality to mark International Women's Day, on Friday March 8.

Confirmed panellists include Siobhan Benita, the Liberal Democrat candidate for the 2020 Mayor of London, Liz Green, the Liberal Democrat Kingston Council Leader, Michelle Akintoye BEM, founder and CEO of the BRITAFRIQUE non-profit for young people in education and Deborah Walls, the executive headteacher of the Coombe Academy Trust.

KEC's own Jean Vidler MBE will host the second panel discussion.
