A Banstead woman whose home was “ransacked” by thieves after they stole a sentimental locket from her was left so devastated she had to be rushed to hospital.
The 74-year-old suffered from chest pains and breathing problems following the incident in Yewlands Close last Sunday (February 3).
Thieves snatched a locket containing a lock of hair which belonged to her daughter who died when she was just four years old, alongside jewellery and cash.
Detectives suspect they broke into her home between 2pm and 6pm that day.
Now Surrey Police are appealing to those who may have seen anything suspicious in the area at that time – or offered any of the jewellery, particularly the locket, for sale.
