Visit Surrey are teaming up with BBC Surrey and Surrey Life Magazine to bring a new open day of events to the county this spring.

Surrey Day will take place across the county on May 4th this year.

The event was announced Monday morning (February 4) by Visit Surrey and BBC Surrey.

A statement posted to Visit Surrey said: "We believe Surrey is special all year round, but on 4th May 2019 we will be harnessing all that regional pride into one big day of celebration. We will be encouraging our members to host special events, and asking the public to share on social media what they love about their county."

The event will look to coordinate a plethora of events to be staged on May 4th across the county. Surrey residents, businesses and organizations such as schools and community groups are all encouraged to stage take part by hosting cultural events such as workshops, concerts and open days in their area.

For those interested in taking part, Visit Surrey urged local businesses and organizations to contact the marketing team in charge of the event ahead of time.
