While some might be celebrating the arrival of snow, it will probably get those travelling by train a little hot under the collar.

South Western Railway have advised that because of "heavy snow fall" overnight, people can expect delays and cancellations throughout the rest of today (February 1).

"Heavy snow fall across the South Western Railway network last night may cause some disruption to services today," a statement posted on the National Rail website read.

"Train services running across the South Western Railway network may be cancelled or revised. Disruption is expected to continue until the end of the day.

"Please check your journey before travelling and ensure you leave enough time to complete your journey.

"It may be wise to travel earlier than planned and if you have advanced tickets where you must travel on a specific train, you will be able to travel on earlier or later services today."

This move also comes after the Met Office issued several yellow weather warnings across the area.
