Fundraisers at Princess Alice Hospice is urging supporters to don their pyjamas next month as part of their Care Through The Night campaign.

The "PJ Push" initiative encourages participants to pick a day of their choice between February 11 and 25 and wear their pyjamas to work, to school or however they might normally spend their chosen day.

Princess Alice Hospice, which is based in Esher, hopes the colourful campaign can help raise awareness and support for the organization and the care it provides to terminal patients both on site and in their own homes.

Promoting the fundraiser, PAH said: "By pledging to wear your pyjamas while doing your own daily activities, you can show your support for these dedicated nurses. A donation of £1 per PJ participant will raise vital funds to enable our nurses to continue to provide specialist care. £35 pays for 1 hour of care from a Princess Alice Hospice night nurse; £385 pays for a full night’s care."

The hospice focuses on delivering care to patients in their own homes, with 80 percent of the organization's care spread over a 600-square-mile catchment area beyond Esher. During 2018, PAH nurses made a reported 14,461 visits to 2,785 patients in their homes.

The highly visual and thematic campaign was designed to highlight the importance of care during non-social hours, according to PAH: "Night times can be a very difficult time for people who are dealing with life-limiting illness, as well as for their carers and families. Knowing someone is there to take over for even a short while, can make a huge difference."

The hospice aims to raise almost £10 million per year in order to provide the care and services PAH staff specialize in, with 74 percent of its income based solely on fundraising campaigns like the PJ Push and retail operations and other donations.
