A 32-year-old man has been jailed for 15 years after being found in possession of a firearm in Croydon.
Aldean Dehaney of Nicholson Road was jailed for a total of 15 years at Harrow Crown Court on Friday, January 18.
He has been found guilty on Thursday, January 17 of possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life; possession of ammunition with intent to endanger life; possession of a class A drug with intent to supply and possession of a class B drug with intent to supply.
The court heard how officers from the Met’s Trident and Area Crime Command carried out a firearms warrant at Dehaney’s address on August 1, 2018 after intelligence had been received that he was in possession of a gun.
As officers entered the address at around 10.00 am, Dehaney fled and attempted to drive away from the scene in a car.
Officers stopped him and following a search of the vehicle, a fully loaded black handgun was found in the driver’s side foot well.
Following a search of the address, a small quantity of cocaine and around 800 grams of cannabis were recovered.
Detective Sergeant Andy Henderson who led the investigation said: “Another lethal weapon has been taken off the streets and a dangerous man is behind bars for a considerable period of time.
“Trident officers are committed to tackling gun crime and the associated criminality it brings and I hope this sends out a strong message that those who persist in this type of activity will be apprehended and dealt with severely.”
