Two hooded youths were seen running away from a van as it burst into flames in Orpington town centre.
Oliver Forkin, 18, who lives in Orchard Grove, said he heard a "smashing" noise before looking out of his flat to see the van on fire.
"I saw two teenagers running away," Oliver told News Shopper after the fire on Tuesday (January 15) evening.
"There was this massive orange glow, and neighbours were running out to see if their cars were safe.
"It was scary because we thought it might explode. It was quite dangerous."
Oliver added he was "convinced" it was an arson attack, and said a nearby car was also damaged by the fire.
He also believes fireworks exploded in the van as it was engulfed in flames.
The London Fire Brigade arrived just five minutes after the incident, and quickly had the fire under control.
Bromley police have been contacted about whether they are investigating an arson attack.
