A Kingston school has the opportunity to revamp its sensory garden, after a sizable donation from the Post Office.

Bedelsford School in Kingston received a £18,050 donation from the Post Office on Friday, January 11 at an event attended by MP Sir Ed Davey.

The money was raised following the sale of old office equipment, with Bedelsford School chosen by Post Office staff to receive the donation.

Sir Ed Davey, MP for Kingston, who presented the cheque at the Grange Road school, said: “This is a great way to start 2019, and I am so pleased that the Post Office has been able to put the money from this sale to such good use; the support that Bedelsford School provides to the children here is absolutely vital and truly inspiring to see.

“This money will enable them to further invest in their facilities, in turn allowing them to offer enhanced help and assistance to their pupils.”

Sir Ed attended the school assembly to meet the pupils and staff.

Julia James, Principal of Bedelsford School, said: “We are extremely grateful for such a generous donation raised for the children of Bedelsford School, which will have a significant impact on our pupils.

“It will allow us to refresh our sensory garden, which is a little tired now, and help us to meet the wide range of needs of our pupils.”

Sharon Coleman, Chair of Bedelsford School Association, added: “The children at our school have complex needs, which means that each pupil requires that extra bit attention from our teachers and parents.

“Putting in place that additional support and time means extra financial investment, and so donations like make a huge difference in terms of the support and care we can provide - we really do appreciate the Post Office’s help.”
