Two teenagers have been arrested after a footballer was stabbed and his friend beaten in a brutal attack over the weekend.

Police were called to Woodfield Road in Thames Ditton shortly after 8.30pm on January where a group of teenage boys were assaulted by a larger group of teenage boys near to the bridge.

One of the victims was stabbed three times and was named as Claygate Royals FC member Harry Shearman, who is currently in a serious but stable condition. The second victim who was also assaulted has been released from hospital.

Earlier today (January 14) police arrested a 14-year-old and a 15-year-old boy on suspicion of attempted murder.

The pair, who are both from Kingston, are currently in custody and enquiries remain ongoing.
