A teenage boy has been stabbed and another was injured after they were attacked near a bridge over train tracks in Thames Ditton.

A group of teenage boys were assaulted by a larger group of teenage boys near to the bridge in Woodfield Road shortly after 8.30pm on January 12, according to police.

One of the boys was taken to hospital with suspected stab wounds, and is currently in a serious condition, while a second was injured in the attack.

Detective Inspector Anna Martin, from Surrey Police, said: “We currently have a number of resources in the area while this investigation remains ongoing to find the people responsible, this includes support from the National Police Air Service.

“The attackers left the area in a number of directions, some onto Couchmoore Avenue, going towards Hinchley Wood while we believe others may have gone onto the railway track.

“I would urge anyone who saw what took place near to the bridge or anyone who has any information about it, possibly through comments, pictures or videos, that they’re aware of via social media channels, to get in touch with us urgently.”

Anyone with information is urged to contact Surrey Police by calling 101, using the reference number PR/P19009261.
