A Richmond prep school will be opening its doors to more children in 2019.

Falcons Preparatory School is currently an independent school for boys aged 7-13 but will soon be welcoming boys as young as four in a development, that sees it introducing classes for reception children.

The class will open in 2019 and the new junior school section of the school will gradually grow. There will be one form entry from reception to Year Two and two from Year Three.

Falcons Prep is situated on Kew Foot Road in a modern building with excellent facilities and direct access to a number of outdoor opportunities, including Richmond Athletic Ground and Old Deer Park.

A programme of works will commence next summer to alter the interior footprint of the school and establish a vibrant and innovative learning space for our younger pupils. The new reception class will be on the ground floor, will have a dedicated entrance and ‘free flow’ into outside space, with a focus on facilities that promote discovery, curiosity and creativity.

Celebrating its tenth year, boys at Falcons Prep enjoy a vibrant learning environment where staff nurture a love of learning. They have a strong set of values focused on providing every boy with the opportunity to reach their full potential. Staff are ambitious for all their pupils and are proud of the range of schools they go on to attend, including Hampton, King’s College, St. Paul’s, Emanuel, Tonbridge, Wetherby and Epsom College.

The school appreciates that academics alone will not provide the boys with the skills they need to become successful life-long learners and therefore offer a range of opportunities in leadership, the arts, public speaking and charity work whilst also promoting a range of cultures, ideas and an understanding of the world around them.

The school will continue to maintain its strong link with Falcons Pre-Prep in Chiswick with boys from here and other feeder schools being able to enter the school in Year 3 as the cohort expands to two classes of no more than 18.

Miss Olivia Buchanan, Headmistress, said: "We have been thinking for some time about the mission of our school and the community it serves. We know that for many parents a Reception through to Year 8 pathway is the most attractive and we strongly believe that we can offer a first-class education for boys from as young as 4.

"Having previously worked in a school of this model, I have seen first-hand the benefits it can bring and the outcomes it will achieve. We want to provide this model for our community and open our doors to families in Richmond, Sheen, Barnes, St. Margarets, Hampton, Twickenham and beyond.

"This development allows us to provide a learning environment which focuses on the whole child, providing a stimulating learning platform, not bound by exams but with a commitment to ensure a dynamic learning community, building on the boys intellectual curiosity – all whilst having fun."
