A repeat flytipper has been fined and must do community service after being prosecuted by Greenwich Council.

Stephen Baker, of Springfield Road, Erith, pleaded guilty to five charges at Woolwich Crown Court on December 6 and was fined £2,000.

The incidents happened in Torrance Close and New Lydenberg Street in Charlton between July and November 2016.

He has been sentenced to 40 hours of unpaid work and 20 hours of rehabilitation activity requirement within 12 months.

Baker must also pay an £85 victim surcharge as well as £2,000 of council legal costs.

Cllr Jackie Smith, cabinet member for community safety and integrated enforcement, said: “Fly-tipping is illegal, blights neighbourhoods and is a drain on the public purse to clean up amid unprecedented funding cuts.

“We take a zero-tolerance approach to environmental crime, and you can help us by providing information like the name or a description of the individual or vehicle you see, and the time and location.”
