A generous 7-year old boy from Surrey has pledged to climb up Mount Snowdon to raise over £1,000 for cancer research.
William, from Ashtead, will be making the trip to Mount Snowdon in Wales in April of next year to avoid dangerous winter storms.
All the money raised will go to Stand Up to Cancer to help fund cancer research.
According to his dad, William was inspired to take up the challenge while watching Stand Up to Cancer on Channel 4.
His dad Steve Johnson, 43, said: “He watched the show and got upset about a particular story that touched his heart.
“A boy who made no friends because he was dying and didn’t want friends to feel sorry for him.”
Mr Johnson said the whole family would be climbing up Mount Snowdon with William and staying in a holiday lodge on the edge of Snowdon.
He said: “I am not a mountain climber by any means, but he wants me to be his official photographer and take videos and photos.
He added: “He actually wants to do all three peaks eventually and might even climb Everest when he’s older.
“He’s a generous person. He would always give away his last sweet. He’s very kind and generous.
“He’s always wanted to give to people and help people. He understands what cancer is and he knows it’s a horrible disease.”
