A kind 10 year old boy from Chessington has spent the last two years growing his hair out to donate a plait to a children’s cancer charity after seeing a post on Facebook.

His mum Miriam Carvajal encourages her three sons Rodrigo, 10, Andrew, 6, and Nathan, 4, to practice kindness compassion.

Rodrigo, who has grown his hair out to nearly 30cm, will have a plait of his hair chopped off next month to donate to young people who have lost their hair through chemotherapy.

Ms Carvajal said she has asked a hairdresser to pay her a home visit on December 29 to have Rodrigo’s locks cut off.

She added: “There’s been ups and downs in this journey as he would sometimes come across bullies or judgments for wearing long hair as boy.

“I am teaching my children that if we have something others don’t have, we share and be compassionate.

“You never know what can happen to you. It’s nice to see my son doing it. He felt really proud.”

All money raised will go to the Little Princess Trust, which provides real hair wigs to children and young adults who have lost their own hair through cancer treatment and other illnesses.
