Two Kingston boozers have been named among London’s most pooch friendly pubs by the online dog sitting platform Dog Buddy.

Wags N Tales on Brighton Road came in second place, just behind the Hand in Hand in Wimbledon in first place.

Ranked third, The Wych Elm in Kingston beat the Kenton in Hackney and Simon the Tanner in Bermondsey.

Michael Pearson, manager of the Wych Elm, said: “It’s fantastic. I think it’s very important, we are in a family area next to Richmond Park. I have got a dog myself and they are obviously wonderful.

“They are part of the family, they are like children and you have got to to take care of them.

“Obviously, a lot of people around here have dogs and it wouldn’t make sense to stop a member of the family from coming.

“We give them dog treats and dog bowls and we make sure they’ve got plenty of water.”

Raj and Parvin Tank, owners of Wags N Tales, released a statement to the Comet, which reads: "'We are thrilled to be voted the second most dog friendly pub in London. We’d like to thank all our customers that voted for us for whom their dogs are a part of the family and they wouldn’t dream of leaving them behind.

"Also, a big thank you to our friendly and caring team that make every effort to ensure customers have a brilliant visit to Wags.

"We have made a name for ourselves as an unpretentious foodie heaven in Surbiton & what better way to enjoy it all then in one of the most dog welcoming pub in London."
