A man in his early 20s has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after a crash between a moped and a car in Esher High Street this morning.
Detectives investigating the incident believed to have happened at 7am on November 6 are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
Motorists were advised earlier today to avoid the area while officers closed the road to carry out their investigation.
Councillor Steve Bax said he was taking his son to Cranmere School this morning and was stuck in traffic on the dual carriageway.
He said: “It became apparent that the traffic on the dual carriageway wasn’t moving so I decided to abandon the car in a side street and we walked the rest of the way.
“Another parent dropped me back via the Esher one way system and I could see the road taped off at 3 or 4 police cars.
“I hope nobody was seriously hurt. It shows How an accident on one of our major arterial roads can affect a wide area.”
Witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage is asked to contact police on 01483 639922 or CollisionInvestigationUnit@surrey.pnn.police.uk, with the reference PR/P18266380
