Officers are trying to trace a teenager they wish to speak with after a 16-year-old boy fatally crashed his motorbike into a lamppost in Epsom.

Police were called to reports of the collision in Christ Church Road at around 10.40pm last night (October 21).

The rider, who has not been formally identified, was sadly pronounced dead.

Now officers investigating the incident want to speak with 19-year-old Daniel Morris as they think he may be able to assist with the case.

Detective Inspector Jackie Elkins, of East Surrey CID, said: “This incident has sadly resulted in a teenage boy losing his life and our thoughts are with his family and friends at this difficult time.

“We are carrying out a number of enquiries to establish the exact circumstances of what has happened and would appeal for anyone who has any information to get in touch as a matter of urgency.

“In particular we’re appealing to local residents to help us locate Daniel as he may be able to assist with the circumstances of this incident. If you have seen Daniel, or know where he may be, please call.”

Mr Morris is described as white, of a slim build, standing at 5ft 10in and has short, ginger hair.

Detectives would also like to hear from anyone who saw the Yamaha motorbike involved before the crash, the crash itself, or any “suspicious driving” in nearby Manor Crescent.

Anyone with information on Mr Morris’s whereabouts are asked to call Surrey Police on 101, quoting the reference PR/45180112710.

Alternatively, you can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
