Footage has emerged online which shows a foul-mouthed row between a group of teenagers and member of staff who was allegedly assaulted at a cinema.

Lots of shouting and swearing can be heard during the loud argument at the Empire Cinema at the St Nicholas Centre in St Nicholas Way on September 30.

The member of staff surrounded by the youths can be repeatedly heard saying, “why is he kicking me?”

One of the teenagers came back and can be heard saying frequently, “come outside” before adding "f***ing idiot".

The man tried to defuse the situation, when he said, "listen, you can't kick me", but the reply heard was "don't touch me".

It’s unclear how many of them there were during the altercation as the video was recorded inside a screening room.

It’s also vague as to whether the man was attacked during the 55-second clip.

The row is said to have started after one of them was asked to leave by security because they didn’t have a ticket.

Police officers were called to the incident at around 12.43pm that day to reports of anti-social behaviour at the cinema.

A Met Police spokeswoman said: “It was reported that a group of youths were disruptive during a showing and became aggressive towards members of staff when they were asked to leave.

“The group left the premises prior to police arrival.”

She added that no injuries were reported and no arrests have been made.

The video footage, published on Facebook, has been viewed more than 9,700 times at the time of publishing.

An Empire Cinema spokeswoman said: “An incident took place at Empire Cinemas Sutton on Sunday, September 30, in which a number of young people were asked to leave a screening following anti-social behaviour. A security guard assisted the cinemas’ general manager in asking the disruptive members of the audience to leave.

"Sadly the customers involved in the incident became abusive to requests from the general manager and security guard to vacate the screenings which resulted in the police being contacted.

"Watching a film at the cinema is a shared experience and anti-social behaviour that disrupts the enjoyment of other film lovers will not be accepted or tolerated.

"The team at Empire Cinemas endeavour to ensure that considerate cinema etiquette is observed at all times."
