A range of green spaces in Sutton have been honoured at an annual London-wide awards ceremony.

Parks in Sutton were bestowed with silver gilts at the London in Bloom competition which saw town centres and businesses compete for more than 250 gongs.

The ceremony, held at Pembroke Lodge in Richmond on September 20, saw Sutton awarded a number of accolades.

Cheam Kitchens, Bedrooms, and Bathrooms won gold in the Fresh Air Gardens category, competing against others from across the capital.

Here are the results in full:

- Cheam Kitchens, Bedrooms, and Bathrooms (Fresh Air Gardens category) – gold

- Manor Park (Park of the Year category) – silver gilt

- The Grove (Large Park of the Year category) – silver gilt

- Beddington Park (Large Park above 25 acres category) – silver gilt

- Oaks Park (Large Park above 25 acres category) – silver gilt

- Cheam Park (Large Park above 25 acres category) – silver gilt

Sutton was also awarded a silver gilt for its efforts overall, while the City of Westminster in capital came out top.

The parks and green space which won silver gilts in their categories are owned and managed by Sutton Council.

Cllr Manuel Abellan, Sutton Council’s environment and neighbourhood committee chair said: “With more than 400 hectares of green open space in Sutton, I am delighted that the quality of Sutton’s parks has been officially recognised.

“I would like to thank everyone concerned for working tirelessly to make them a first-class facility for residents and visitors.”
