Nonsuch Park has scooped up a South and South East in Bloom award for the second year running.

Participants in the charity award scheme were asked to focus on three main areas: horticultural achievement, environmental responsibility and community participation.

The mid and late 18th century park secured a South and South East in Bloom 2018 Silver Gilt Award in the heritage/historic category.

The award ceremony was held in Brighton on September 14, with close to 400 guests from across Surrey, Kent, East and West

Awards were presented by Joe Talbot of BBC Surrey and Sussex and announced by South and South East England in Bloom chairman Peter Holman and celebrity gardener Jim Buttress.

A spokesperson for Epsom and Ewell council said: “With the untiring and abundant support of our three main volunteer groups, the Friends of Nonsuch, the Nonsuch Voles and Nonsuch Watch, and the efforts of our parks team, the park achieved impressive scores in every area of the judging criteria.”

Nonsuch Park is managed jointly between the London borough of Sutton and Epsom and Ewell council.
