The sister of a war hero injured in a bomb blast in Iraq is raising money for the charity which has been caring for her brother.
Stephen Vause, 31, suffered brain injuries in a mortar explosion near Basra in 2007 which left him severely disabled.
Sian Cheesman, 22, from New Malden, will be taking on a five mile obstacle course to raise £450 for the Surbiton care home where her brother has been staying since 2015.
She said: “The charity has given him a home, and that’s the main thing.
“They have said he can stay there as long as he wants, which is a weight off our shoulders.
Stephen has had to overcome more obstacles in his life than most people will ever have to."
The challenge will take place this Sunday (September 30) and feature 13 obstacles designed to test teamwork and endurance.
Mr Vause was 19 when he served in Iraq with the fourth battalion, the Rifles.
His disability means he uses a wheelchair and has limited speech, using a tablet to communicate.
The 31-year-old receives 24-hour support from staff at The Royal Star and Garter Home in Surbiton.
The war veteran has been taking on his own set of 13 challenges, including lifting weights, sit-ups and hand-eye coordination tasks.
